An all-woman team made up of powercousins Marya and Carlyn, along with Juniper and myself, took on the rough-and-tumble crowd at Dr Fact's Night of 50 Questions last night. Once again we did respectably, placing at about 6th out of maybe 20 teams? But all the money went to Sparkle Motion, who beat even the Neuticles. Sample questions: in what capital city does the white nile meet the blue nile? (Khartoum). Where do Angostura Bitters come from (Trinidad...that was my second choice.) What is the world's largest exporter of liquorice? (Spain...nobody knew that) For next month, Dr Fact is making Sparkle Motion write the questions, which, oh, I guess puts them out of the running for that month, which will, oh, I guess allow the Neuticles to win instead. Big Whoop! I personally am a little tired of Buttermilk. They don't start until 9:45 and then each of 10 rounds is only 5 questions, after each of which they collect the answers and read the answers and futz around, and they take all these smoke breaks, and I don't smoke, and just generally take for frickin ever and it's too loud to talk so you just have to sit there staring into space like you're waiting for someone in the emergency room. Then you lose your three dollars because the questions are all geared toward bearded guys (deny it!) and there are no audio or visual rounds.
My vote is for a return to Freddy's where there is only beer on offer as a
prize, but you don't have to give money either or truck way the hell out to
the South Slope. And! It starts at eight and you can have whatever number
of team members and! it's all run very efficiently and there is a well-defined
smoke/drink/bathroom break.

Also on Wednesdays there is the as-yet-untried Cocotte trivia night. Last week I went back to Pete's but it doesn't even warrant a report. I was miserable and I don't want to return soon!
