And on OK Cupid, as on Tickle, I found one and only one guy who interested me. Once again, he has a beard. Plus I think what really sold me is that he is shown standing in a field holding a paper bag full of ears of corn. So dreamy! What is it lately with me and beards and agricultural products? I think it started with Felix, who I met when I visited a friend upstate last Labor Day. Felix has a nice red beard and has started his own chicken farm! All by himself. What a go-getter. And man is that good chicken too, I cooked one of them. He’s really nice and he wears the same silly brown hobbit-made shoes that I do. But I got over that crush at about Hour 4 of the bus ride home. No way I’m doing that trip on a regular basis. Then there’s the pea-shoot seller at the Greenmarket, haven’t seen him lately. Then there’s Don W, who I think maybe I fell for when his beard was good and grown out and he ate so many blueberries that his tongue turned blue. And then, when I went to the Neil Young tribute in Prospect Park, I developed an instant crush on Iron and Wine. He has one helluva beard and such a sweet singing voice. Thank heaven for my binoculars so that I could see his big gold wedding ring and nip that one in the bud right there. Wedding rings are such an awesome innovation. My dad has never worn one because he thinks they’re "feminine." Isn’t that funny? I guess he is already toeing the line enough with his opera and classic musicals fandom and his total ignorance of sports.
