Sorry no update yesterday, as if anyone noticed! I got all caught up in free online scrabble! The hours just fly by! I think it would be better if we had four players instead of two. Better for our work habits. Now my partner has a day off and I'm gettin the DT's. Feel free to invite me, if you need my email address just ask. Then I was in a crossword mood so I went to NYT.com and they had a full Sunday one available so of course I had to do that as well. I was seeing everything in squares and letters, it was no good. So Wednesday KB and me braved the wilds of Queens and went to Never On Sunday. It was a pretty cool movie I guess. They had all this trouble with the video projector. Trouble with projectors is the stuff of my nightmares ever since I spent 2 years working as a projectionist. I also have a lot of nightmares where I miss the schoolbus or get to high school and don't know what classes I'm taking and can't get a hold of my schedule. Oh so anyway, the movie. It was basically exactly like Zorba the Greek except instead of a sailor or whatever Zorba was, the Dionysian force is a happy hooker. Before the movie I checked out the Goodwill in Astoria and I scored a copy of Cat Stevens' "Tea for the Tillerman." (fuck off!) I love that song "Hard Headed Woman." It's so strong and emotional. Except when you listen to the lyrics it's kind of colossally stupid. In particular: "I know many fine feathered friends, but their friendliness depends on how you do. They know many sure-fire ways, to find out the one who pays, and how you do." It's so so dumb! Just look at it! But when he sings it, it actually sounds all genuine and profound. It's weird eh? Arguably more exciting was my other thrift score, which is going to be my Halloween Costume. A little plaid jumper from the School of the Immaculate Conception(!) It has a school patch on it and the best part is the "perfect attendance" ribbon pinned to it. And the little matching cravat. And the $2.99 price tag. I can't actually zip up the back, but maybe once I let out the darts it'll be ok.
