UPDATE:

Kristy reviewed the show elsewhere so go read it...it captures the stamina and dazed enthusiasm of the day really well. Below is my impromptu review:

Anyway, yeah, the show. Iggy Pop was fucking amazing, like everyone says he is, I guess. He is so amazingly hot, actually. I wanted to have sex then and there with basically anyone, from watching this man with the most amazing muscle definition I have ever seen on a skinny person. Running around and singing...so great! The Strokes were fine. They sounded better than on recordings. Normally I find the vocals bothersome, like with Rush. However their music is a bit flat and simple. Big Star really stood out because most of the bands had songs in the 1-4 chord range, in 4/4 time, and they were just out there somewhere, trying to make pop, and it sounds like pop, but is really complicated, such that many of the kids looked bored and even the go-go dancers seemed artistically challenged by the tempo. Kim Fowley was an awesome MC. I don't think most people knew who he was...he was and is a record producer. I accidentally missed the Pretty Things while in the Food Tent because they sped up the schedule out of fear of the approaching hurricane. The rains came when we were waiting on line for the bus off the island. Nancy Sinatra played for too long and I thought she was pretty tuneless. My sort of friend from Ann Arbor has started her own band, the Paybacks, and she's awesome! I am so proud of her! I didn't get to reintroduce myself to her, however. It was a great day, the bands were really tight and the transitions between bands were efficient. Maybe a bit too much unnecessary chatter from the MC's, no time to think or talk among ourselves. And the sound was through the whole park so there was nowhere to go and experience any quiet.

I will have to finish this tomorrow when I have more steam!
