Ha ha ha I love the "spamusement" cartoons page!

Also, the novelty adult spelling bee (not adult like nudie, just not children, ok?) has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 8 pm at Freddy's Backroom. Gee I wonder if I will win. I am a pretty good speller. I credit the phonics curriculum in 2nd grade. I wonder if I will end up on the radio. Saying something embarrassing as usual.

And, I had a nice time in Colorado, it seemed like a very long vacation and I still haven't really recovered. I did get to the peak of Mount Sopris, though it was physically extremely demanding what with my asthma and the tendency of my nose to close up when I start exercising. That high altitude is really something. Somehow on the trail description I failed to notice the designation "more difficult" in the heading. Until I pulled it out of my pocket while slogging up a mass of big loose rock with precipices on either side. "More difficult" than what? I guess it's just one step below "most difficult" although I'm hard pressed to think of anything harder than that, to be honest.

Now I'm planning my trip to California in September and considering this and that hike...like at Pinnacles...7.8 miles, 1600 ft elevation gain... no worries mate! It's near sea level. So I guess the summit did affect my self-image, though in the period of panic and terror "up on the rock," I couldn't for the life of me remember what I was doing there. I basically kept at it out of fear of being abandoned there by my friends or dying of exposure and being eaten by whistling mountain rabbits. Ah, the World of Sport! We also did some trout fishing. I really can't decide whether that is the most boring thing on earth or what.

Since my friend works at a consignment shop, I scored 3 free cashmere sweaters. We tried to turn them into felt by putting them in a hot drier. But nothing happened! I think I will cut them up and knit them into hats and scarves. I also got a free pair of Jil Sander shorts(?!) And ten $10 records for $3 each.

I am really into jewelry making now. I made a list of all the crafts projects I've done (or could easily do if I had a color printer,) and I now feel like I could open my own shop or something. If I only had an attention span. I wonder if I could sell things outside of my house, like a stoop sale. Only I don't have a stoop. And it's in a bus zone, there is probably some law against that. Anyway if you want to sell some items too let me know. Especially if you have a card table or a beach umbrella. And if you didn't get a birthday present from me this year I will have to let you choose among the crafty offerings. I picture a trenchcoat with the stuff hanging inside of it.
