OK OK, I'm back from vacation and rather than tell you about it the plan is to get a Kodak Picture CD and create a narrated slide show online! (Yawn?) The good thing about online slide shows is probably that you don't have to look at all the slides if you start glazing over. My father was always fond of slides, so I have seen a lot of slide shows. He has since switched to prints. I am feeling totally out of whatever loops I was ever in, after taking three weeks off in the past 2 months. I also realized that I have come to a point where I can only participate in either extremely impromptu outings or highly structured social events such as games and contests. Though it really just serves to reinforce my neurotic behaviors, here follows a list of coming attractions aka things I want to do. Movies: Sky Captain Recurring Actions: Scrabble with $2 Yuenglings at Commonwealth (5th Ave at 12th, Bklyn) on Sundays at 4pm. Trivia at Buttermilk (5th Ave at 16th st, Bklyn) on the 2nd Monday of every month. Eating It Comedy Night at Luna Lounge every Monday, except please not the special event called "Dating It" where you have to speed-date the comedians and one of them is the horrible horrible Kurt Metzger, who called me a lesbian last night when I told him to please leave the stage. I guess that was the worst word he could come up with. Musical Times: Thursday 10/14 John Cale ($30), though I can't quite go because I have my handquilting workshop that night until 8:30!! Same night: The Paybacks, Holly Golightly, The Sights, The Greenhornes, Blanche, Mr Airplane Man at Mercury Lounge, though this is only $12 and will probably run later. Way too late in fact. 10/27 at 8pm The Spelling Bee R-E-M-A-T-C-H at Freddy's Bar on Dean at 6th Ave, Brooklyn. Saturday 10/30: John Zorn and Group at Anthology Film Archives doing soundtracks to films: at 8, Joseph Cornell; at 10, Harry Smith and Wallace Berman. Sunday 11/7 Devendra Banhart at Bowery Ballroom
